The best bird treats

Fruits, nuts, seeds and vegetables in general should be the bird treats that complement their diet and are a reward for them. Take note!

Fruits are a great choice for birds as a treat. Bananas, apples, melon, papaya and other fruits will delight your bird and are a great option to provide nutrients such as vitamins and minerals to your bird. You can offer it cut or whole, of course depending on the size of your bird and the fruit. Remember to clean the cage of subsequent waste to avoid contamination.

Nuts such as walnuts, almonds, macadamia nuts and others love them, but you should not give them large amounts. If you give them in their shells, they can spend some time trying to open them and exercise their beaks and paws in the meantime.

In general, seeds will prove to be an excellent choice as bird treats. Sunflower, pumpkin, flax and other seeds are a good alternative for your bird and represent a source of fiber that will help maintain the bird’s digestive system.

Vegetables of different kinds can be a source of vitamins, minerals and fiber for poultry. Some options may include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, spinach and other leafy greens. Sprouts can also be offered to birds. Always remember to wash food thoroughly before feeding it to your bird to avoid contamination from pesticides and insecticides.

Poultry may like the pasta dried or boiled. Try to see which one he likes the most, but remember that you should only give it as a treat and only sporadically. They also tend to like whole wheat bread and some birds prefer it when it is hard.

In any case, do not overdo it with the quantity. Popcorn is also often one of the foods that can be given as treats. In some cases it can be given without exploding but boiled for a few minutes to soften the shell a little. Remember to give this food without salt
