Nature is as beautiful as it is fascinating, allowing us to never cease to be surprised and amazed by its inexhaustible range of creatures and colors.<\/p>\n

However, among all the colors, blue is perhaps one of the least present in animals. But, although few, there are; and today we are going to discover one that is as fascinating as it is dangerous: the blue frog Dendrobates Tinctorius<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This spectacular blue-colored frog, which lives in the jungles of specific areas of South America, belongs to the family of dendrobates, also known as arrowhead frogs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As you can see in the image, it is a mesmerizing animal because of its unusual electric blue color.
\nWherever you see them, so pretty and small, they are very venomous and therefore also dangerous.<\/p>\n

The blue frog: why its color?<\/h2>\n

As we said, blue is an unusual color in animals. So why does this frog have such a striking color? The answer is: as a method of self-defense.<\/p>\n

Unlike other animals whose color serves as camouflage, the blue frog’s color warns predators to think twice about eating it and to be aware of its high toxicity.<\/p>\n

What happens when another animal eats a blue frog is that, due to its toxins, the prey is not exactly a delicacy since its taste is very bitter.<\/p>\n

But that is the least of it, their venom causes the predators great pain and incapacity.
\nOccasionally, the predator dies. And those lucky enough to survive will always remember that eating a blue frog is not a good idea.<\/p>\n

If you are wondering if their venom could kill a human, the answer is yes. Some species of dendrobates tinctorius are very dangerous even to humans. So if you ever come across one, just watch it.<\/p>\n
