But if you are adopting an adult dog, you may ask yourself some questions, such as whether it is possible for it to adapt to the habits of the home as a trained dog. The reality is that in most cases, dog adoption is a rewarding option for many people.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Consider that there are many adult dogs that are in need of a loving home. In fact, there are shelters and organizations that take in dogs for adoption until they find a loving home.  <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Advantages of adopting an adult dog<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Among the advantages of adopting an adult dog we can list the following:  <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">More stable character. An adult dog usually already has a more stable energy level than a puppy. In turn, the character of an already grown dog is already more formed and defined than that of a dog that is in the process of training. This will allow you to get to know their behavior and needs better.  <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">More training. There is a greater chance that an adult dog is already socialized and knows certain basic commands that it will be able to obey. He may even be housebroken, which will save you time and effort in training a puppy.  <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Less demanding. An adult dog will be less demanding than a puppy and will not need frequent trips to relieve itself or it will bite everything around it. If you are looking for a calm companion, adoption can be a great choice.  <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Size and appearance. You will already know what the dog is like and you will not have any surprises when it grows up and changes its appearance, which can happen when you adopt a puppy.  <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gratitude. An adult dog that has spent some time in a difficult situation or in a shelter may develop very special bonds of gratitude with its new caregivers. If you adopt an adult dog, it means that you are giving a second chance to a being that has had problems. This way you can make a difference by giving him a home where he will be safe and receive love.  <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Problems<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In some cases, adoption can bring certain problems. It is useful to know what kind of previous training the dog may have had before adopting it. Since these dogs have sometimes been abandoned, they could have health problems and different diseases. A dog that has been mistreated may suffer from some related behavioral problems. On some occasions he could be afraid, anxious or even aggressive towards other animals or people.
